The 2026/27 UEFA Nations League is the fifth edition of Europe’s national-team league, and it is the most compressed one yet: 156 league-phase matches involving 54 nations, fitted into six matchdays between 24 September and 17 November 2026.
This page is the reference point for the whole season. Below: the full calendar, all 14 groups, every fixture with its European date and kick-off slot, and the conversion rules that turn a printed 20:45 into a time you can actually plan around.
Quick answer: the 2026/27 Nations League league phase runs from 24 September to 17 November 2026 over six matchdays, with 156 matches. Almost every match kicks off at 20:45 Central European time — early fixtures use 15:00, 16:00 or 18:00. The League A quarter-finals are on 25–30 March 2027 and the Finals on 9–13 June 2027.

2026/27 Nations League calendar: the dates that matter
Every window in the competition, written in European dates. Nothing here is published from another time zone, so nothing needs converting before you use it.

Two things stand out. First, matchdays 1 to 4 are unusually compressed: 104 of the 156 league-phase matches are played inside 13 days, and Matchday 3 begins on 1 October with only Wednesday 30 September free after Matchday 2 ends. Second, no Nations League football is scheduled in the week the clocks change — the 25 October switch falls in the gap between Matchday 4 and Matchday 5.
How the 2026/27 Nations League works
All 54 UEFA member associations are placed into four leagues based on the 2024/25 Nations League overall ranking. Leagues A, B and C each hold 16 teams in four groups of four; League D holds the six lowest-ranked teams in two groups of three.

Inside each group every team plays the other three home and away. Matchdays are spread from Thursday to Tuesday so that a nation never plays twice in one matchday and so that the broadcast slots do not clash.
The knockout route
- The group winners and runners-up in League A — eight teams — go into two-legged quarter-finals on 25–30 March 2027. Group winners are drawn against a runner-up from a different group and host the second leg.
- The four quarter-final winners reach the Nations League Finals, a five-day tournament in a single host country, from 9 to 13 June 2027.
- Two-legged ties are decided on aggregate. There is no away-goals rule: if the aggregate score is level, the tie goes to extra time and then penalties.

The draw was made in Brussels on 12 February 2026. Each group takes one team from each seeding pot, so every group of four contains one nation from each of the top four ranking bands.

Nations League kick-off times in European time
UEFA’s own fixture list carries one line of guidance: “All times CET; 20:45 kick-off unless stated.” Across the whole 2026/27 league phase only four slots are used.

Two things about that table need care.
The first is the CEST/CET label. UEFA prints “CET” as shorthand for Central European time in general, but Central Europe is on CEST (UTC+2) until 25 October 2026 and on CET (UTC+1) only after that. Matchdays 1 to 4 are therefore CEST. Convert a September kick-off as though it were CET and every time you work out will be an hour out.
The second is what actually moves when the clocks change. For a viewer in the UK or the United States, nothing moves at all. The United Kingdom is always one hour behind Central Europe and US Eastern is always six hours behind, because Britain and continental Europe turn their clocks back on the same date. What changes is the absolute moment: a 20:45 kick-off is 18:45 UTC in September and 19:45 UTC in November — one hour later in real time, even though the clock in Madrid, Paris, Berlin and Rome still reads 20:45.
There is one week where that breaks down. From 25 October to 1 November 2026 Central Europe has switched to winter time but the United States has not, so the gap narrows to five hours and a 20:45 kick-off falls at 15:45 US Eastern. No Nations League match is played in that week, but club football is — worth knowing before you book anything.
Planning a matchday around European kick-off times
Four practical points, in the order they are likely to bite.
1. The autumn window is compressed
Matchdays 1 to 4 place 104 of the 156 league-phase matches inside 13 days, from 24 September to 6 October. Matchday 2 ends on Tuesday 29 September and Matchday 3 starts on Thursday 1 October, so Wednesday 30 September is the only clear day in between. If you plan to travel for more than one matchday, check that gap before you book.
2. The November window runs straight through a weekend
Matchday 5 runs from Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 November and Matchday 6 from Sunday 15 to Tuesday 17 November, with no break. The same nation therefore plays twice inside six days, and the Saturday-to-Sunday changeover is immediate.
3. One fixture is behind closed doors
Croatia vs England, Saturday 3 October 2026, 18:00 CEST at Stadion Rujevica in Rijeka, is being played behind closed doors as part of a UEFA sanction against Croatia. There is no public ticket sale; UEFA has granted a limited allocation of 100 complimentary tickets to England Supporters Travel Club members. The same sanction also covers Croatia’s opening fixture in Czechia on 26 September. The kick-off is fixed at 18:00, two hours 45 minutes earlier than the standard slot — only five League A fixtures in the whole league phase start before 20:45, and this is one of them.
4. A published date can be a day out
A 20:45 kick-off in Central Europe is 18:45 UTC. In China (UTC+8) that is 02:45 on the following calendar day, which is why fixture lists published in Asia show Netherlands vs Germany on 25 September when it is played on 24 September in Europe, and why the whole of Matchday 6 is often printed as 18 November. The 18:00 slot behaves differently again: 18:00 CEST is 16:00 UTC, which in China lands exactly on midnight and therefore also moves to the next day. The 15:00 slot is the only one that stays put. The European date used on this page is the date on which the match is actually played.
What the 2026/27 Nations League leads to
The Finals, 9–13 June 2027
Four teams reach the Finals, a five-day tournament in a single host country. The semi-finals are on 9 and 10 June 2027; the third-place play-off and the final are three days later on 13 June 2027. The host will be confirmed by UEFA during the season and will preferably come from the four qualified nations. Portugal are the defending champions after beating Spain on penalties in the 2025 final.
EURO 2028 play-off places
The 2026/27 Nations League is also the competition that feeds the EURO 2028 qualifying play-offs. Under the format approved by UEFA for the tournament in the UK and Ireland, group winners and the eight best runners-up in qualifying go straight through, and the remaining places are decided in play-off semi-finals and finals in March 2028 — a route that is open to the best-ranked 2026/27 Nations League group winners who did not qualify directly. Group winners in Leagues B and C therefore have something concrete to play for in November beyond promotion.
And then 2028/29
The final overall ranking of the 2026/27 edition, compiled at the end of the finals, sets the league and pot placements for the next Nations League in 2028/29 — which is why the November matchdays have a knock-on effect well beyond this season.
